ECY&EA owner and lead instructor, Dr. Deborah Bassett holds a PhD in communication from the University of Washington, has a research background in health and wellness and is widely published in the areas of culture, communication, and health in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is an experienced certified yoga teacher at the 200-hour level and is currently completing her 500-hour level yoga teacher training.
Dr. Bassett specializes in restorative yoga, yin yoga, somatic yoga, teen yoga, and expressive writing for emotional health. She offers weekly, in-person yoga, meditation and movement classes in the Historic Sacred Heart Hospital at 1010 N. 12th Ave. in the East Hill neighborhood of Pensacola.
All of our weekly yoga classes are by donation to our studio in accordance with our belief that yoga is an offering to the Divine and to the community. (Suggested donation is $15/class and can be made here or in the studio. Our expressive arts workshops and dance classes are priced individually and sign up links will be posted here.)
Our studio is an inclusive space that welcomes ALL ages, levels of abilities, and experience. Please arrive for your class 10 minutes early and bring a mat (or you can use one of ours!) and full bottle of water. All additional props will be provided.
Update for this week's classes!
I am teaching offsite this week on Thursday and Friday mornings, so morning studio sessions are canceled for those days this week. They will be back next week!
Chancee Terry is offering her signature Yoga Nidra and Sound Healing session on Halloween at noon! Join her for a peaceful hour of crystal bowl singing and rest! Space is limited to 10 guests, so sign up early if you want to attend! Register here.
We are very busy planning our new yoga and dance schedule for 2025 and can't wait to share our new classes and dance series soon!
We are housed in the beautiful Historic Sacred Heart Hospital, which was once the Pensacola Hospital with a mission to care for all, regardless of ability to pay. We honor this legacy, as well as the founding principles of yoga, by providing our weekly yoga classes by donation. (Donations are made directly to the studio and we pay our teachers.)
Many of our students donate to our studio monthly and we've made several options available for those who choose to support us through membership:
Whether you choose to give a one-time, monthly or yearly donation in support of our unique studio, we want to say THANK YOU for empowering our mission to make the healing benefits of yoga accessible to all!
Our studio exists because we took a chance on a community model of wellness that is simply not being done elsewhere in our area! We are not funded by the city, a private foundation, or any other external source, but through the hard work and passion of our team who believe in the healing power of the arts and in making that available to all.
Our students have asked us to create a membership model that helps them support us on a monthly basis and we are humbled and honored to do so.
Thank you for believing in our mission to make yoga accessible to our community! We invite you to explore our monthly memberships below.

Toni focuses on the grounding foundations that help bring a deeper understanding to our asana practice. She uses props in ways that help us understand how we create strength so that one day those more difficult poses aren’t so difficult anymore.
Toni always hopes that her students learn something new. One of her favorite quotes is "To Teach is To Learn" (unknown author). So far in life, she is an accomplished intuitive Massage Therapist, a Functional Nutrition Counselor and Yoga Teacher, she has spent the last 20 years studying the fascinating human body and loves to share her knowledge with those that are ready to listen.
