ECY&EA owner and lead instructor, Dr. Deborah Bassett holds a PhD in communication from the University of Washington, has a research background in health and wellness and is widely published in the areas of culture, communication, and health in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is an experienced registered yoga teacher at the 500-hour level and has studied a wide range of styles and specializations over three decades with expert yoga teachers in Jerusalem, Seattle, New Orleans, Delaware, New Jersey, and Florida.
Emerald Coast Yoga & Expressive Arts is located in the Historic Sacred Heart Hospital at 1010 N. 12th Ave. in the East Hill neighborhood of Pensacola, FL.
Leslie Donovan has been teaching yoga since 2017 and is a graduate of the 200-RYT from URU. Leslie has always valued different forms of exercise and may supplement yoga with alternative practices such as Pilates, somatic movement, meditation and mindfulness during class as these tools help keep her grounded.

Heather Mitchell is a visual artist, who has studied and practiced tai chi and qigong for many years and enjoys introducing others to the profound benefits of these gentle practices. She has shared her love and knowledge of tai chi and qigong in various settings, with students of all ages (elementary school to 80s) and levels of experience. Her teaching repertoire includes the Eight Silk Brocades, a set of qigong movements that target specific systems in the body for healing, and the 18 Movements (Shibashi) Sets One and Two. Heather also teaches the Yang Style 8-form, which is an abbreviated introduction to the widely known 24-form. She enjoys sharing additional qigong movements, named for birds and animals that inspired them, which can enhance any practice.
