Creative Summer Camps for grades 5-12!!

We are hosting creative summer camps in our studios for students 5th-8th grade!
Campers can select from the following week-long tracks (offered each week unless otherwise noted):
Writing prompts for poetry, short stories and creative non-fiction!
Planning, producing and broadcasting a teen radio show LIVE on Sandcastle Radio!
Exploring different mediums for art making!
Acting workshop!!
4 one-week-long sessions available in June and July, meet 12-3pm, Monday-Friday
Students choose the track they want for each week of camp! Take one or all four! Campers will have the chance to interact with each other in a fun, supportive, creative collective that includes a yoga studio, art gallery, radio station, and dance studio!
(Water provided, please send campers with snacks that are suitable for their individual needs.)
Cost: $160/session
$10 registration fee per session
10% discount for siblings (no additional registration fee)
All activities take place within Studio 228 or Studio 211 in the historic Sacred Heart Hospital in East Hill and are supervised by ECY staff.
Creative Writing Camp with Emily Grommes!
You have some fantastic stories shut up inside of you and it’s time to let them out!
Hello, my name is Mrs. Emily and I’m ecstatic to be teaching you Creative Writing
Over the course of our week we’ll be stretching and building our creative muscles with reading selections, writing prompts, one-on-one advice, and optional group shares. We’ll be covering the three forms of creative writing: poetry, short stories, and creative non fiction. Essentially we’re going to learn how to tell a good story and have fun doing it!
Day one: Poetry
Day two: Short stories
Day three: Short stories part two!
Day four: Creative non-fiction
Day five: Creative Non fiction part two!

Radio Host and DJ Training!
Sandcastle Radio co-founder and live radio host, Deborah (DJ Debz!) Bassett will lead campers through a hands-on live radio experience in the Sandcastle Radio studio!
Campers will meet some of the teen DJs on the Sandcastle Radio team, learn about planning and producing a live radio show and then do it!
Campers will be invited to host an end of camp season teen disco on the Saturday afternoon following the end of the last camp!

Acting Camp with Reece Cura!
In the acting camp we will work on confidence-building through theatre. Students will explore acting basics, character development, improvisation, and scene work, leading to a small end-of-week performance.
Camps emphasize creativity, collaboration, communication skills, and self-expression in a supportive environment.

Art Camp with the Studio 228 Art Collective!
Art campers will work with the Studio 228 Artist Collective artists to learn about different art-making techniques and create together in the beautiful Sun Room full of windows, plants, and inspiration!

The Story Studio: A High School Creative Writing Intensive
In this week-long creative writing workshop, students will develop, draft, and revise an original short story in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Through guided lessons and structured peer workshops, students will explore character development, plot structure, dialogue, and revision strategies used in real writing programs.
By the end of the week, each writer will leave with:
• A completed short story
• Meaningful peer feedback
• Practical revision tools
• Greater confidence in their craft
